If you support one of our campaigns, please join them and help to spread the word by inviting your friends. It is easy, just click on OpenInviter tab in the menu, choose your email provider, import your contacts, select friends, type your message or invitation and hit send. This is a fast and secure way to invite and share with many people at once.If you would like to start your own campaign -and there are many causes where the urgent help is needed, please choose applications/campaigns/start a campaign. Fill in the fields. The information can be edited later. You can also support your campaigns with blogs, photo and videoalbums, polls. As we grow, more people will learn about them and join the case, sign the petitions, participate in events... You also can add a donation link if you would like to raise funds for this campaign. Again, you can use OpenInviter to promote campaigns.All our campaigns are automatically added to IamActivist Facebook application. So you can display them on your profile and invite your Facebook friends too. You can also join IamActivist Facebook page and group on Facebook or follow us up on Twitter.More information you can find in our KnowHow section. Updating profile
To update your profile, you must visit the Edit Profile page. You can move through the different parts of your profile by clicking the tabs at the top of the page.
Updating your email address, contact details and editing or adding new location
You can update your email address on the My Account page. Your contact details can be updated in your profile tab. Your location details can be edited and added from your applications - manage locations tab. Adding a new location is particularly useful for organizations and global campaigners, as they can add additional contact information, if they are represented in different geographic locations.
Deleting account
If you are aboslutely sure that you want to delete your account, you can do so here. Please note that your account will be permanently deleted and irrecoverable!
What is the difference between "Standard Users" and "Organization" accounts?
"Standard users" account reserved for private accounts, and "Organization" account - for accounts of organizations. They belong to different networks, making it's easier for users to find you. Organization accounts also provide you with some additional functionality. For instance, all organization's web-sites and URLs provided upon registration would be added to our custom IamActivist search by default, making external resources searchable from within the site. We also provide some extra services for promoting organizations - such as, your organization logo linked to your profile can be placed in "featured organizations" sidebar.
What is IamActivist Facebook application?
If you think your case is just and proud of supporting it, why not to show and share it with others? I am Activist Facebook application is a useful utility, allowing you to display campaigns you support on your Facebook account and profile page and connect to other users. Simply add i_am_activist application to your Facebook account. Millions of people use Facebook everyday to keep up with friends, share links and learn more about the people they meet. Why don't use this opportunity to make your cause known?
What features can I use?
Standard Users and Organizations are provided with standard set of features by default. Apart of adding and editing your profile details, providing others with information about you and making search easy, you can use a powerful set of applications to support your campaigns and causes. Go to "My application" tab, and choose any of the added applications, enabling you with many possibilities to create, edit and search valuable content. You can add, edit and join campaigns; add, edit and comment on blogs; create, edit and join events; upload photo albums and videos; set locations and implement Google maps; create polls and participate in them; chat - in private chats and open chats.
Message settings
You can send private messages to anyone, up to 10 recipients at a time.In your inbox folder could be stored up to 100 conversations, and in outbox folder - 50.
Photo and video settings: file types, sizes and number of photoalbums and stored videos
Sizes and formats allowed: currently you can upload files with following extentions: jpg, gif, jpeg, png, bmp, mp3, mpeg, avi, mpa, mov, qt, swf.(MIME-types: image/jpeg, image/pjpeg, image/jpg, image/jpe, image/pjpg, image/x-jpeg, image/x-jpg, image/gif, image/x-gif, image/png, image/x-png, image/bmp, audio/mpeg, video/mpeg, video/x-msvideo, video/avi, video/quicktime, application/x-shockwave-flash). Storage: you can store up to 10Mb of photos and videos on your user account and uploads are limited to 10Mb for a campaign. Photoalbums: you can have up to 10 albums, maximum image size is 2Mb; maximum width and height - 500x500 px. You can use image editing software, such as Ifran View or Picasa (both are free) if you need some adjustments. If you would like to upload more files, or files of different sizes, please consider opening a free account on specialized sites, such a Flickr.com, and provide you users with a link to it. It is also a very beneficial practice to you, as you have an option to tag this photos providing link to your IamActivist page URL, therefore bringing in more visitors from this site. Videos: you can store up to 10 videos, maximum size of 1 video is 10Mb; maximum width and height - 560x500 px.If you would like to upload more files, or files of different sizes, please open a free account on specialized sites, such a Youtube.com, and provide you users with a link to it. This is also a great practice to bring in new users from other sites to your IamActivist page.
Setting photo and video options
Permissions: by default in your application settings you can set permissions on who can see, post comments and watch your photos and videos. You can select from these options: Everyone; All Registered Users; Only My Friends and Everyone within My Subnetwork; Only My Friends and Their Friends within My Subnetwork; Only My Friends; Only Me; Nobody. Display and layout: you can choose if you would like to show your albums and video in a tab or side gutter. You can also change the layout by adding your CSS if you would prefer to do so.
Blog settings
On your page will be shown up to 100 blog entries by default. Your blog contents are included in the search, visible to everyone, and open for comments to all registered users.
Profile features and settings
You can exclude your profile details from search if you like. You can upload your profile picture (max.size displayed 200x200px) and edit CSS style of your profile layout. You can become "invisible" for other users when you on-line, change your profile name and delete your account. You can choose your privacy level for others to view your profile and comment on it by setting following permissions: Everyone; All Registered Users; Only My Friends and Everyone within My Subnetwork; Only My Friends and Their Friends within My Subnetwork; Only My Friends; Only Me.
Chat settings
You can chat with your friends. The number of your friends on-line and not in the "invisible" mode displayed in the footer.You can have private chats or chats, open for everybody to read, join and participate.
Event settings
You can create events and upload related to the event icons (200x200px max., files jpeg, jpg, gif, png will be displayed. You can exclude events from search results if you wish, style their appearance with CSS. You can choose who can view and comment on the events from the options below: Everyone All Registered Users Only Invited Users, Their Friends, and Their Friends' Friends Only Invited Users and Their Friends Only Invited Users and Event Creator's Friends Only Invited Users Only Event Creator Nobody. How can I invite friends and promote my campaigns?
IamActivist gives you many different tools to promote your campaigns. First of all, you can easily invite friends to join your campaign by importing your contact lists. Click at OpenInviter button in your profile menu bar. Write a message in the box, select service you use, enter your e-mail and password, choose recepients and hit "send" - inviting many people to join your campaign or keep them updated can't be easier! OpenInviter currently supports these e-mail service providers and social networks: Rambler.ru, Mail.com, GMX.net, Yandex, GMail, Yahoo!, KataMail, Lycos, Rediff, AOL, Live / Hotmail, OperaMail, Mail.ru, LinkedIn, Friendster, Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Orkut, Hi5. Second, you can add i_am_activist application to your Facebook account. It is connected to IamActivist campaigns database, and lets you display your campaigns and campaigns your support on your Facebook profile and interact with other users directly. Third, you can add your(or related)web-addresses to custom search engine of IamActivist network, making it easier for others to find you and bringing in traffic. Fourth, we are trying to help organizations to promote themselves and campaigns they support. If you have an organization account, please contact us and send a link to your organization site. Organizations selected would be added to our "Featured organizations" section on the front page,exposing you to a wide audience. Fifth, you can use bookmarking tools - letting others know about your new posts or sharing interesting relevant information you found. Look for the bookmarking icon "Share this" on blog and campaign pages. And, of course, content rules! - the more informative is your account - supported by blogs (cross-posting of entries and articles, if you maintain another resource are allowed), photos, videos, polls... - the more users will find you and visit your page, and eventually will join your campaign.
How can I create an organization account?
Click on "Signup today!" button on the home page. Signup fields will be displayed. In "Account Information" section enter your organization name in "Username". In "Account type" options choose "Organization". Fill in the rest of the required fields.
My blog/ campaign entry displays strange characters... How can I fix it?
It might happen if you copy-paste text from Word files or copy-paste directly from web-site. Please use embedded text editor on your blog, or copy-paste the text you want to upload in such applications as Notepad(for Windows users) or TextEdit (if you use Mac)first - and copy-paste again from there into the text field.
How to add my organization to "featured organizations" in IamActivist home page sidebar?
If you have an organization account, please contact us and send a link to your organization site. Organizations selected would be added to our "Featured organizations" section on the front page,exposing you to a wide audience.The organizations featured would be put there free of charge and in rotation on a regular basis(monthly). The choice of organizations displayed we leave on our discretion.
How my campaign can generate money?
By creating content, inviting friends and other people and actively promoting campaigns which are of interest to others, you are not only contribute to your campaign goals, but also generate a traffic to this site and I am activist Facebook application. At least 25% of all income generated by this site will go directly to supporting individual campaigns; we are also planning to support selected by us and other users campaigns on one-to-one basis. You can also consider putting on your campaign page URL link to your PayPal or bank account, so users could contribute money directly. Yet another possibility to generate income is to find sponsors for IamActivist network, who would like to contribute some money, for instance, in exchange for the ad banners on site. We can guarantee 25% of sponsorship fees will be contributed to your campaign. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this option.
How to find an answer to the question which is not listed here?
Most answers can be easily answered if you will think a bit, or have a look around your profile and other IamActivist pages. Some others can be searched for in Internet. There are only 2 people working on the support and development of the whole IamActivist network on a volunteer basis, in their free time, so we have some time limitations. If you really think you can't get an answer yourself and should contact us, please visit our contact page, enter "submit a question" in subject, describe the problem you are having in the text body of the form and hit send.
Where can I find it?
The application can be found here- http://apps.facebook.com/i_am_activist/ It is also listed in Facebook catalogue of approved applications and supported by IamActivist Facebook page and groups.You need to register with Facebook to see them.
How can I add a campaign to Facebook?
All the campaigns submitted to our site are automatically added by default. It takes up to 12 hours though for it to appear in Browse Campaigns application's listing.
How can I use my Facebook application?
After you will add it to your applications, Browse Campaigns and select the ones you support. You have 2 tabs - Home and Settings on your application page. Home displays all added by you campaigns and messages, and also provides with the short description of the campaign.You can invite your friends to join the cause and also visit profiles of other activists supporting it. You and your visitors can also see the detailed description of the campaign on IamActivist site by clicking Campaign link. Settings displays 2 boxes - Visible and Hidden. Campaigns you support in the Visible box are visible for other people visiting your application. You can move campaigns from Visible box to Hidden if due some reasons you would prefer not to show in public campaigns you support.If you added the application to your profile, you can change the campaign displayed there by moving campaigns in the Visible box up and down. The top campaign would be displayed. And, of course, you can delete or browse for more campaigns.Ads, displayed in the application support the chosen campaigns.Consider inviting your friends and ask them to do so, if you want the support of the campaign will grow.
Can I create my campaign's Facebook group?
Yes, please do so! It will give you some additional tools of interaction with campaign's supporters on Facebook, bring more supporters - as groups are displayed in search results and mini-feeds.
Can I use HTML in my content?
Currently due to security issues you can not directly use HTML, embed contents or put direct links on your blog or campaign pages. Some tags, such as b,img,a,br,font,embed are allowed in the comments though.
Restrictions: abusive and copyrighted content
Please be aware that we will not tolerate abusive language, racial, hatred or other contents or disrespectful remarks humiliating other user's dignity. Such a contents would be withdrawn from site, in case you will continue to distribute such contents, your account can be deleted and you banned from IamActivist network. If you feel that some contents of this site are abusive, please report abuse by using direct links provided on pages or writing to us.
Please make sure that you have a right to distribute any copyrighted contents, such as images and videos, or they can be freely distributed. In the case of abusive content and copyright-related issues, IamActivist administration doesn't have any responsibility for any contents uploaded here by users, as it is left upon their own discretion and responsibility, nor we are physically able to check all the contents submitted by users.
